Around The League - 2025 Playoffs

McGuire saying from what he’s hearing lots of players are fed up with everything involved with living in the bubble and expects teams that fall behind 2-0 will pack it in for game 3 in hopes of heading home. He said belief amongst management is this will be the most difficult playoffs due to the resolve required by players to last the long haul.

So Michael Ferland missed most of the year because of concussion symptoms, gets healthy for the playoffs and... gets in a fight in the first game. Only plays 4 shifts in the second game.

Now he's out with concussion-like symptoms.

Columbus was down 3-0, came back to tie it in the third, and Pierre-Luc Dubois wins it in OT. A hat trick.

Leafs have serious issues....there's one thing to have ultra skilled players like Mathews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander but when just about everything else is a mess having all that talent is meaningless.

I still stand by what I said, the worse move they made was signing tavares.

They completely lost the ability to put together a more balanced lineup due to cap issues.

To me that team had more compete when they had the likes of kadri, JVR, Bozak, Komarov...plus they would have had cap space to compliment their core and work on defense

I agree with JT and the cap issues

However , if their guns produced they would of advanced past round 1 every year

That isn't a cap issue , its a performance and hard work issue
 
The Leafs are a reflection of their heavily analytics designed hockey team by Dubas. Should they lose this series, will be interesting to see how much pressure ownership puts on Shana-plan...in turn Dubas.

Ironic they booted out a dinosaur GM who seems to be having more success than boy genius.

Craig Button summed it up well, the Leafs loss was completely self-inflicted. Why were they trying high risk stretch passes & other high risk plays while up 3-1? What was the desperate need to score another goal?

In the playoffs it’s all about winning the game not padding stats - that’s their main issue the inability to recognize & execute shutting a game down for the win. Some of it can be attributed to lack of experience but most of it is basic philosophy of the the of players the teams built with. Their core was never willing to absorb what Babcock was preaching and at least for yesterday’s game, Keefe seemed like a deer caught in headlights.
