Babcock is incredible

The first 15-20 games here have shown me I underestimated his ability and impact on the Leafs.

This roster, the most unimpressive Leaf team on paper in many years, is suddenly playing great systemic hockey. We're seeing backchecking and zone support like no Leaf team has provided in recent memory. We're seeing the team in virtually every game, including when we're significantly outgunned from a talent and offensive perspective(ie most nights).

If he can make the bunch of humps we have now play like this, what happens when we have a legit top 6 and top 4 D instead of running Polak Matthias and Parenteau out there?

If Hunter comes through and we don't do anything massively stupid tradewise, we're going nowhere but up.

We had to pay a ****ing ton to get him here, but the early returns are that he's worth every penny.

He's the greatest.

If he could just temper his greatness a bit though, so we can get a top 3 pick, that would be ideal.

I don't think Babcock's system is anything new, or anything that most teams aren't already implementing, lets just get that out of the way. I think what seperates him from the rest of the 29 other coaches is his excellent communication skills and his ability to get the most of out of his rosters, that can be attested to the fact that he has a degree in sports psychology not to mention he was a teacher back in the day.

I'm not going to play the game of "hes the best coach we've ever had' until I see some results but I do think it was a great signing on the Leafs end.... its a sign that they want to go all in and won't settle for mediocrity.

Best coach in the world. Worth every penny. Massive signing getting him.

In addition to the Leafs looking better, Detroit looks worse.

Best coach in the world? Lets not go that far.... guy hasn't won a cup since 2003. But yes I agree, it was a great signing on the Leafs end....

I don't think its appreciated enough, the fact that players love to play for him. That is huge. You can't gauge exactly what that's worth. It's like Rex Ryan. Guys just flat out love to play for him and will play harder.

Look at Torts... The anti-Babs.

All coaches have a shelf life , even Babcock! I'm not saying he isn't a great coach but lets not act like he's god when in reality he isn't. Certain players gravitate towards certain coaches and others are turned off by certain coaches too, it really does work both ways. For all the players who do want to play or supposedly play for Babcock lets not forget there was major beef between him and key players in Detroit last season (Datsyuk the main one).....

He's not? **** me i really thought he was!

And Quennville was nothing special before going to a stacked team in Chicago. He did so-so in St-Louis and Colorado.

I don't watch a tonne of Blackhawk games, but Q's ingame adjustments and personnel management is very very good from what I've seen. And they break out of their zone better than anyone.
