Fire Aid 2025

I missed it last night as we were celebrating (as a family) my eldest daughter's 40th birthday. But I had a number of folks who excitedly pointed out to me about the Nirvana reunion as Dave, Krist and Pat had four different women front a song each from their catalog.
1) Annie Clark (aka St Vincent) with "Breed"
2) Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth) doing "School"
3) Joan Jett with "Territorial Pissings", and
4) Violet Grohl (with Kim on bass) doing "All Apologies"

This is the link to their performance, if you missed it. If you want to share your own personal faves, do so here. And I'd also encourage you (if you haven't already) to give to one of the fundraising organizations like the one shown in the video. Wind storm did enough damage to require a new roof for us but so many people I know (including a number of friends) who lost their homes, their businesses, their kids' schools and even their church.

On a related note, just saw the Bandcamp is releasing (for 24 hours only) a compilation of unreleased music by a number of great artists from Jason Isbell to The War on Drugs to Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service. Part of their Good Music series to help with wildfire relief.

Oh, and one more thing: this compilation of 90 artists is only available as a single download, and not the individual tracks.

So, I went on Bandcamp this morning and there was this compilation of 90 artists, to purchase for $20.25. There were a number of covers, unreleased songs, live versions of songs and demo/alt versions of a song the artist had released. Enjoy "Keep On Loving You" right now, a cover by Tenacious D! :)
But there were artists' music there, too. I decided to also purchase the "Super Bloom" compilation (including The War on Drugs, Robyn Hitchcock, Molly Burch, Pearl Charles, Caroline Rose, Ty Segall, Jenny Lewis & Cass McCombs, Guided by Voices, Ben Lee, King Gizzard & the Wizard Lizard, Dr Dog and Bedouin). That one was $10. Finally, I bought a single solo track, an unreleased one by Jensen McRae. Available for the remainder of the day (until 12:00 AM PDT). All proceeds for the artists are being donated to fire relief organizations.
