For Borje - The Toronto Maple Leafs 2023 Stanley Cup Champions Thread

Ya that game 1 hit was pretty much the only "loose cannon" thing he's done.

Refs have definitely put a target on his back which he needs to adjust to, but that's different. I'm also not sure about his fit on Auston's line anymore because you just don't want Auston or Mitch getting drawn into scrums. That's not their jam.

The board has convinced me he needs to be in somewhere though, cause he really makes our mess of a left side look way better.

while that is true, I really can't envision inserting Matt Murray after a long layoff into a postseason game
 
Maybe Keefe is just playing games with Cooper.

Let captain gud playoffs ROR babysit him.

Jarn/Kerf - Matthews - Nylander
Knies - Tavares - Marner
Bunting - ROR - Acciari
Jarn/Kerf - Kampf - Lafferty/ZAR

That third line would suck to play against.

This is the biggest concern of mine. They already don’t give him any benefit of the doubt and him getting called for something tickytack instead of egregious is what’s potentially going to sink us. Personally I love what he brings, but I’m hoping he can showcase that better if we advance.

That’s not really related to the post you quoted. ME’s been arguing that we can make Murray’s cap hit next season disappear by just putting him on LTIR for concussions.

I don’t think there’s any evidence that’s a reasonable possibility, though, and that’s what that post was related to.

To respond to your post though—if something happens to Samsonov and Murray is healthy and available, I wouldn’t bet against Keefe putting him in.

It's the volume of concussions and the ease with which he acquires them now that's the point there.

I disagree on the 2nd point entirely. I never said he was going to flat out retire. He's owed 8 million dollars next season. He's going to do whatever he has to for him to ensure he gets paid.
 
the only thing that makes any sense to me is if Keefe is worried about the bolts trying to get retribution or any type of motivation they might get from that kind of thing.
