Four Nations

I missed the game, who stood out? Seeing the highlights it seems Sid was the best player on the ice. Or were there others that looked as good or better?

I still don't think there's a model that truly paints a picture of how good individuals play in a single game. I'm sure it gets more accurate with a larger sample size.
 
Sid only had 1 5v5 assist and he didn't have any shots.

Reinhart-McDavid-Marner was their best line. They had 10 more shot attempts than any other line 5v5. McDavid led the team in scoring chances, and Reinhart was 3rd.

I'd have to say McDavid.

Mainly because I really haven't seen a whole lot of him as I don't watch the Oilers unless they're playing the Leafs. I did watch last year's final but I don't recall him being as dominant as he seemed to be last night. I was impressed.

Yeah, Sid was pretty damn good too.
 
McDavid looked pumped, and he and McKinnon were playing at a lightning pace.

That said, Sid just looks so calm out there, so smart, and playing the ultimate team game.

McDavid plays like that most nights. Even better on other nights. He's a force of nature when you see him play in person.
 
Despite Friedman stating Canada could not call up anyone else for the tournament on the broadcast, apparently that has changed and now Tanev is being considered as an emergency option if someone else gets injured

i think they said that there's a "gentlemen's understanding" that if a team can't ice 18 skaters they can call someone else, and that canada's officially allowed to notify the next guy that he might be called if there's another injury.

but honestly Tanev is the wrong call to replace Theodore anyways. they were already going a bit light on offensive dmen and with theodore out it starts to become a little glaring.
 
everyone praising mcdavid for flying around in circles and yeah everyone knows he's superfast but i don't know that he was using his linemates very well or making it easy for them. MacKinnon also had tunnel vision out there.

kinda want them to put those two burners together, and maybe let Marner play with more cerebral players like Crosby/Point.

Ya MacKinnon had some golden chances in OT but man he really looked off some wide open guys.

Give McDavid a break. He was saddled with Mitch the tourist all night. Put 87, 97, and 29 on a line together and just let them do their thing.

Look at this guy! Totally someone who doesn’t care about the Four Nations tournament. And is totally, absolutely not salty at all about Marner scoring the winner and being cheered by his fellow Hab fans.

btw, Wehave said he was happy watching us give up the lead in the game and wants us to lose out so it is Finland-Sweden in the final
