GDT #21: 2024/11/24 - Calm before the storm

Marner and Nylander have really graduated to another level with Matthews out. They can both carry lines, carry teams.

I love Matty, but maybe this period without him is instructive. Maybe all these good players can't really be their true when the undisputed leader is there, and they look to him to score 70 every year? If it's true and they will defer to him whenever he's in the lineup, and then we go as he goes whenever he plays, that needs to be figured out and overcome somehow. And I have no idea how.

team is waiting for AM to win it every game without breaking the sweat and if he can’t they like ‘oh well, I guess next time”
When every player digs in that is when winning comes

That Lorentz-Dewar-Steeves line looking very good again. I much prefer that kind of 4th line.

Not as good a night from Minten and Grebs in this one, though Nicky not exactly staking a claim to a sport either. Holmberg pretty solid at C again.

McCabe-Tanev continues to crush it, and Benoit-Timmins with another very good game since Benny came back in. Unfortunately OEL has been kinda falling apart lately.

And an even better game from woll in this one. Same solid positioning but tonight he kept rebounds to a minimum.
