GDT #30: 2024/12/14 - no excuses

so all the skaters we actually want in the lineup are finally healthy.

You could argue that the likes of Kampf, Krok, Hakanpaa might be marginal upgrades on some of the players in the lineup, but it's very debatable, and I think we all agree we'd rather just be rid of those contracts and spend that money on actual good players.

And now that we're healthy, coach has finally dropped Reaves out of the lineup. So we should all be praying very hard that our new-look bottom 6 plays very well over the next few games, to make sure that coach isn't tempted to put Reaves back in, and to really show the GM that the caphit of guys like Kampf and Krok are a complete waste.

Important that that 3rd line works, or else a trade is likely needed to upgrade it. And important that 4th line works to make the more expensive 4th liners more tradeable in Brad's eyes.

We have a chance to make a strong move up the standings into the top group. so far it's WSH/WPG/VGK/MIN that have separated themselves from the pack a bit, but we have a chance to jump right into that group if we take care of business. The wings are a terrible team that are playing terribly. 1 win in their last 7 and that 1 was a SO win against the equally shitty sabres, who we face tomorrow. We even have a chance to dramatically recover on the nerdies (i.e. we jumpted from 20th to 15th just by demolishing the shitty ducks on the nerdies. 2 more games like that and the nerdies might actually start looking decent).

and unlike Dostal for the fucks, the wings and sabres don't have any good goalies available for these games so for the love of sweet baby jesus can we please score a bunch of fucking goals already.

no excuses.

"I hate patches because he's old but Talbot's age is allowed"

I don't "hate" patches. Take that shit to LGM's house. I don't want to get older and slower in our forward group or have players on the roster that reward that style of play. Also, and kind of fucking crucially, Pacioretty appears pretty fucking fragile and tough to rely on as a top 9 forward. Let's see if he makes it through the year in one piece. If we're comparing him to Talbot because old, Talbot has been one of the most durable goalies in the league despite his age, playing a 1A/Starters workload in 3 of the last 4 seasons. Shit, since 2020 Talbot has played 33 more games than Pacioretty has despite being 1.5 years older.

What the hell is going on with Hulu/ESPN. They're barely showing the Leaf games anymore, and then I'm stuck trying to find streams and none of them work properly.

about Patches' injury - they were probably milking it. he came the first game he was eligible to come back on even though they had just been bullshitting about him needing more time a few days before.

When did patches become Charles Manson on the ice. He's an absolute menace out there and I love it
