GDT #38: Dec 23 2pm, Canes @ Leafs - Merry Xmas, Preston

turn it off. you've been proven right and they're scrambling. Are they commenting on Carolina being a disaster? Or are they a solid scrappy team still?

Carolina has ceased to exist in their analysis.

You would swear that the Leafs just lost 6-1. I don't expect them to jerk themselves a soda to the Leafs' defensive effort...it wasn't good. But the speed at which these fucking clowns reach for silly (often factually incorrect) old school hockey tropes is hard to find outside of particle accelerators.

Oh my fucking god, they're doubling down on their horseshit in the post game.

They just showed a highlight pack of the Canes goalies while they opined about turnovers, didn't show a single fucking 3rd period highlight of the comeback.

What other fanbases have to put up with that?

Now Sid is rattling on about the game being a defensive horror show, despite the fact they just scored fucking 8 against one of the best teams in the league. This was a defensive horror show for the Leafs...what was it for Carolina?

The entire hockey establishment is against the Leafs.

If they were allowing 6 goals a game I'd be like.. Okay this shit isn't sustainable. But every fucking metric says their play under Keefe is entirely sustainable. Incredible offensive talent is being turned into a negative. What the flying fuck?

hOw cAn tHeY wIn iN tHe pLaYoFfS?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Anyone still hate Mitch or think he’s not worth his $11m? Told ya.

Yeah he is making a lot of people (including myself) look silly. Him coming back has been the engine this team needed to turn things around. He is a threat everytime he is on the ice. And it looks like he is looking more for his shot (and it has definitely improved from last year) which just adds to his versatility as a player.

anybody know why they blew the play dead for apparently no reason near the end there?

I really think that what we all said over and over again when we were a crap team about not being afraid or worried about overpaying elite talent was 100% correct.

You can analyze the big 4’s contracts all you want but on any given night these guys constantly give you a chance to win. Combine it with picking studs in the late first and second and actually having a coach that plays to our strength and we’re laughing.

Dubas clearly thrives in finding undervalued, underpaid gems. We don't have to worry about filling the roster with him in charge I don't think. Between their drafting and analytics department they are beyond okay overpaying for talent. Just means they'll sign less Backes' at like 6 shmil and more Spezza's at league minimum. Who gives a fuck.

Babcock just crushed the public perception of our guys.

Make no mistake - they would score every bit as much as the McDavid and MacKinnon if used the same way. And that's exactly what's happening now.

Hell, tbh, babs may have kept their price down.
