GDT #4 - AUG 7, 8pm, SN - Not like this

Why do the Leafs always get bad puck luck? Weird.
Well last year they outplayed them 5 on 5 but Bruins won the special teams and goaltending battle (in game 7). Coin flip in the end. I wouldn't call that bad luck. One team has to lose.

This year is different. I know it's easier to just compare the two series' because it's lazy analysis but that's not the case. The leafs are outplaying Columbus cumulatively and are losing. But in hockey "outplaying" can often mean you have a 53-55% chance of winning each individual game. Hardly a lock. Things happen. In this case, they didn't help themselves by collapsing in the 3rd. But more often than not, they still win that game even with the collapse. And in a 5 game series getting unlucky in an individual game and losing can be a hell of a lot more harmful than in a 7 gamer.

I would call the first game a coin flip and the third game unlucky. As my orange friend says best, it is what it is.

Pretty good. Guy is typically a dumbass but he got that right. He mentions his leafs history, but he kinda had the same reputation in Anaheim too. Sample size increasing with every failure. At a certain point his big game failures stop being coincidental and it start to become a legit pattern.

Y'all love to just have one scapegoat. Only one though. No room for more than one per player who is responsible for a loss.

And I am accused of having "lazy" analysis.

Oh I blame Tavares too, I got lots of blame. Marner, Nylander, everyone on D not named Morgan, there’s lots. But if our goalie was passable there’s a very good chance we win all 3 games even with those guys sucking D

5 goals in 3 games.

Leafs need a goalie who doesn't give up more than a goal a game or the odd shutout. Can't expect a team full of offensive talent to win without this.

Bunch of simps.
