GDT #55 MAY 12 8PM - Fucking Fred

yeah. i'm not convinced he won't leave for LA or SJ at some point, so he may not get the points mark, but i think the single season goals mark is a given unless he can't stay healthy. 55 goals isn't outrageous. very doable.
If we had the PP going and he hadn’t had the wrist injury I can’t even imagine what his paces what be like.

My goaltending depth chart

1) Jack
2) Injured Jack
3) Rittich
4) Hutch
5) Ayers
6)

7) Freddy

How hilarious do the goals against him have to be for lambasting to be appropriate? He made what, 2 difficult saves all night?
obviously a garbage game, but I still think he needs more time. the problem is that we don't have more time. there's one more game left and we have to decide our starter. that's not enough for Andersen to get into shape and starting him over Campbell could hurt the latter whose psyche seems to be fragile as all hell which is not ideal in the playoffs either.

Dude, it's not even a question. We're talking about a guy, however fragile his psyche who has put up a .920+ since getting to Toronto vs a guy who is proper broken and has been a .900 goalie for over a calendar year now.

Freddy doesn't need more time, he's been bad for 2 years now, horrible for the last year.

sure, but that .920 is over a fairly small sample size. he's got 28 games as a Leaf and 86 career games in the NHL compared to almost 400 career games for Fred.

again, I'm not a Freddy fan and happy to see him leave in the summer but I'm nervous about Campbell starting in the playoffs too

He really didn't look like a guy who was just shaking off rust to me - didn't look like he was even moving well.

He usually doesn't look that lost, IMO.

Edit: Just saw the tweet... 🤷‍♀️

You should be nervous about starting Campbell, but the idea of Fred starting is much, much worse. Fred's experience means nothing if he can't stop pucks now and he clearly, clearly can't. This is the 5 game of his last 7 that he's played where he gave up more than 3 goals. He's abysmal now, it just is what it is.

Not really looking forward to this playoff series having a back to back for Games 3 and 4 like CJ suggested. I don't actually have a ton of faith in Rittich either.

If Keefe and Dubas and company start Freddy game 1, I will lose all faith in their ability to evaluate the goaltending position. Freddie has done nothing this year to deserve a look in the playoffs. Hutch, Rittich, and Campbell all have been significantly better than him statistically.

I see Freddie as our 4th string goalie going into the playoffs, maybe 3rd depending on how you rate Hutch.
