the toronto sports media is much like the republican party in that they seem to consistently reach their conclusions entirely independent of facts
I’m too scared of Keefe letting Fred into the net at some point cause Jack had a bad period and not letting jack back in - no matter how Fred has played. We have a lot of history of leafs coaching giving way too much rope to Fred.
rather take our chances on other goalies that we have than let Fred have any shot back in our net

This is my worry. Even if Campbell hits a rough patch, I think by far our best option is to ride through it with him and hope he turns it around.
Putting Fred back in the net, and there would be a lot of pressure for the coaching staff to do this, would be a death sentence for our playoff run.

Belfour was the last guy who I think was on a similar level to Campbell. Fuck I loved that crazy keeper.
But yeah, despite what is obvious to all of us, there is a little voice in my head that keeps telling me I should be very fucking concerned that Fred will just be anointed our de facto #1 keeper in perpetuity, again.
And you just fucking know post-game Fred will talk about how he thinks he's ready for the playoffs, wants to start, thinks he can contribute, etc.
So long as the option is there for Keefe I will always be afraid he uses it.
Now watch Freddie rip off a frickin Frovember for the ages...

It's funny cuz I don't actually think Campbell has been amazing.
I think our D has been that good.
They even made Hutch look decent.

I have belfour in mind - but most other goalies were overhyped by the media, plain sucked donkey nuts or played behind a great team (cojo, pot gin and belfour)
What I was tellling some buddies is that it’s easy to see Campbell’s influence based on his stats or team stats with him in net vs Fred. And it’s like night and day. If he didn’t get injured and played another 10 games he’d prob be too 5 in vezina trophy votes based on his stats.

Perhaps for Belfour it's because they didn't embrace SV% as much back then and relied more on eye test - and Cujo always seemed like he was making more heroic, acrobatic saves? Not sure but I was shocked to look back at Cujo's numbers the year he was nominated for Vezina vs Hasek - not even fucking close.
