This team gets so much of their offense from the back end, like we always say.
Matthew’s shoulder must really be cooked. Lack of wrist shots + speed of these shots. He doesn’t have that capability to beat a goalie 1v1 by snipping it from outside of 2m like he used to.
He’s passing off the puck with good looks (like he did to Marner just now as I was writing this). He might be becoming a defensive center that can put up at a 20G (without empty betters) pace for the rest of the season. Not bad, but so much less than the team needs to win.

I'm pretty pro-replay, but spending 5 full minutes trying to determine if an empty-netter in a 5-2 game was offside does seem unnecessary. I don't mind that idea of a two-minute clock, if you don't see enough to overturn, call on the ice/field stands.

Everyone was riveted by the high flying, high offensive style of play…no time to write anything on here. Just unbelievable hockey. So much better than Canada v USA. The way Timmins and Benoit skated the puck up the ice to make passes kampf for grade A chances - makes Makar a yarn to watch.
