You can't put the training wheels on anyone right now. This team is in desperation mode to make the playoffs.

Nah. We’re in. Blue chips will rise to the occasion anyway. Gotta have faith in them to perform. Marincin isn’t going to be the reason we make or miss the playoffs, and neither will Lilly, so it’s in our best interests to play him.

The time to run him was as your #6 from October-December, so that you could trade for a replacement before the games start costing you a playoff spot. Kid isn't playing well enough right now to justify a spot, and I say that as someone who fucking adores him as a prospect. He's going to be ready soon, but not yet, and I don't think giving him high pressure minutes that he's not ready for is going to help.

(a) This is not always the case, and (b) even if we assume that the vast majority of "blue chippers" become above-average NHLers, it certainly doesn't mean they do it in the 1st year. The top 3 or 4 guys in the draft are usually close to ready, and it's probably why Liljegren dropped in the 1st round. He wasn't close to ready, and we got a great player as a result. But it is going to take time.
You play the team on the ice that gives you the best chance to win the game at this time of year. Period. Unless you're rebuilding.
They dressed 7 d-men so Lilly's obviously in the mix, and it's exactly what I would've done. Give everyone a look, and use the 6 best. Especially when they are giving up zero high-quality chances in the 2nd and 3rd period.
