GDT #69: 2025/3/20 - nice.

Laughton is what he is. He's Holmberg that hits and fights. Which is fine, but not worth a 1st and Grebenkin. He is 1st on the team in xGA/60, 2nd in hits and 2nd last in ixG/60, basically tied with Reaves.

They should make a Lorentz-Laughton-Steeves 4th line that just goes out and hits everything.

Minten has 3 goals 1 assist in his first 3 games. Grebs has 2 goals in his first 2 games.


So that's 5 goals, 1 assist in 5 games. For two guys that haven't really been plus offensive producers. Hilarious.

But Minten for Carlo will end up being fine I think. This is the first time they actually aimed high for that rugged stay at home d Rielly partner and got a guy that is actually elite at defending. I'm fairly optimistic about him.

He also doesn't fit a need currently. It's the same damn move we make yearly.
 
It was a need it was just the wrong guy. They needed to get Holmberg out of the top 9, but now Holmberg is still in the top 9 and Laughton is on the 4th line.

I don't know that there's a top 9.

That 4th line played much more than that 3rd line last night.

Anyways Domi Laughton Robertson Jarnkrok Holmberg Pacioretty Kampf Lorentz should be plenty enough options to build a very good 2-way bottom 6.

They also got a 28 year old with a year to go - looking like a guy you want to keep around and now you have a year to sell him on staying.

Also, minten is a third liner at best.

But a first for Laughton looks real bad. Shoulda been in on frost and farabee.
