GDT #75: 2024/4/2 - Must Win

ok this is a big one.

Panthers are struggled and missing key pieces. They'll be ornery coming off a couple tough losses to the adorahabs. They're on a back to back and we're rested.

a huge 2pts here - we could give ourselves a 4pt lead in the standings with the tiebreaker edge as well, making it very hard for the panthers to catch us down the stretch. it's going to be tough holding off the bolts down the stretch given their much easier sked, so it would be nice to put the panthers firmly behind. or we could let the panthers tie us in pts and only have a 1rw tiebreaker advantage over them, with us having a tougher sked the rest of the way.

If we show up and are disciplinesd we should win this one. And a convincing win here could actually start putting some doubts in the panthers' minds. But if we let them come in here and beat us in this situation, panthers' confidence gets a huge boost and ours takes a big hit.

Maurice had the blender out bigtime last night so we don't really know what their lines are going to be. But this is what they've been going with mostly lately:

Sidenote: Since Dom never updates goalie Net Rating, i've decided to start using a simply metric of 2yr GSAx divided by 2 for the goalies. On my first eyeball of most of the teams the number seems to actually work and helps explain the standings better, even if it seems the goalie numbers are pretty big at first glance. Let me know what you think.

Ok Im back from vacation, doesn’t matter what happens tonight just need all key players stay healthy

more injuries mean they're gonna try even harder.

we better show up.

must win.

we will for sure kill this penalty after dominating all period and not scoring.

no question!
