GDT #8: 2026/10/15 vs BUF - getting annoyed now time to start playing better

we already lost two division games that imo we deserved to win, so it's high time we win one now.

and if they want to have their first game with legit good nerdies in a while, that would be nice.

No excuses - Sabres are missing their best player.

Did they practice yesterday? If so, were the lines kept the same? I felt like they'd get back to Cowan-Paul-Sissons at home where they get the last change

yeah despite his lack of skill i kinda really like sissons and really think he should be used at C. I think Paul as a complementary wing is probably a better fit for him too - him as a shutdown C was always a stretch i think.

and i'm legit excited to see McKenna and Cowan play together.

Swapping Willy/Marchenko is fine not sure it makes much difference tho.

According to that article...

Willy Papi Roslovic
JT Paul Marchenko
Mckenna Sissons Cowen
Everyone else.

I like the idea of JT to the wing but I didn't see it on line 2,

Cowen/Mckenna Paul and Marchenko could be fun.

I think Marchenko on his own line and on his customary RW could be good.

Love it. Not necessarily the lines themselves, but trying something fresh and new. This is how you learn what you've got.

The Paul and McKenna flip would make that work. Keep that third line together and try the kid with Tavares and the Russian. It might unlock him.

i don't really see anything good about macewan.

how come cowan's dom rating isn't better, because last season is weighed more heavily?

Paul's game in Utah single handedly crushed my hopes and dreams about him being a steady consistent 3c. He was terrifyingly bad. I think you've gotta go with Sissons and I love the idea of flanking him with two offense guys so that the line isn't a complete black hole offensively. And Paul has played with elite talent in Tampa in a top six role at some points every single season he was there, that's sorta his thing.

But worst case, you can always flip back to Cowan Paul Sissons at any point in the future. In the meantime, keep experimenting.

In theory Marchenko is supposed to be able to drive his own line, and he hasn’t clicked outstandingly well with Matthews. So I like the idea of seeing if a line built around him and Tavares can be a thing, and give us the luxury to play Auston & Willy together.

Would prefer to see McKenna on that line too, or up with Matthews & Willy. But a couple of talented kids in him & Cowan with Sissons as a defensively-responsible security blanket centering them will be interesting to watch.
