GDT: Canes After Dark Resumes … Carolina @ Seattle 3/2, 10PM Eastern

Carolina warms up the plane for a 4 game roadie, starting tonight in Seattle with a tilt against the Kraken. Seattle is sitting in the last Western wildcard slot in what might be the top heaviest Conference in recent memory. They’re 3 points clear of the reanimated Sharks and the weirdly resilient Predators, but a thousand miles away from the West’s top three of Colorado, Dallas and Minnesota. Their 65 points would have them firmly in the dead end mosh pit in the East with Philly, Ottawa and Florida. So … good on them for being in the right Conference I guess.

Carolina is kind of rolling at 8-0-2 in their last 10, having won their last 5 games, but aren’t exactly collecting style points at the moment. Seattle is clunking along at 6-4-0 in their last 10, which is light speed in the woeful Pacific Division. Injury-wise, Carolina is in pretty good shape. We’ll see if we get any word from the morning skate, but KK was the only guy that was reported to be dinged up for their last game. It’s Bussi’s turn in net, but we’ll see about that too. Seattle likewise is in pretty good injury shape with only a couple of depth knocks. Hard to tell what Seattle is doing in net. Joey Daccord has been getting most of the run in net, and his last start was Saturday so he’s fresh enough to go but Phil Grubauer has been the better goalie despite having 12 less starts. Who knows? This is a big game for Seattle’s playoff chances, while it’s just a positioning tilt for the Hurricanes.

So, fire up the FanDuel app and hope for the best.

Super excited for this one tonight!! Finally the Canes come back to Seattle! Heres hoping for a good one tonight!

That was frustrating, as we had the better of play overall.

Hats off to Daccord; he was the difference tonight.

As popular as it has been to scapegoat Andersen this year when he has the nerve to allow two goals, this one has more of a "you can't win if you don't score" vibe.

Freddie was fine last night. Anybody hanging that specific loss on him is WAY off base. And Daccord was good, but not that freaking good. Last night was one of those nights when the Canes generated a lot of shots without generating a lot of danger, which happens sometimes. No need to look much deeper than that, really.

We definitely were more about quantity than quality in the shots dept. Not enough bodies in front, not a lot of time spent in high danger areas.

Agree.. Seattle was hanging in there with a collapsed defense and our boys were having fun skating and passing the puck around. Maybe they should have played the entire game pretending to be on the power play. Stick Staals big ass in front of the net and let the "playmakers" whiz around out on the perimeter. I didn't wait for the FD app to get caught up before turning the tube off halfway through the third. It was obvious to me the Canes were sitting on the crapper pushing the water with air. No real production.
