Carolina warms up the plane for a 4 game roadie, starting tonight in Seattle with a tilt against the Kraken. Seattle is sitting in the last Western wildcard slot in what might be the top heaviest Conference in recent memory. They’re 3 points clear of the reanimated Sharks and the weirdly resilient Predators, but a thousand miles away from the West’s top three of Colorado, Dallas and Minnesota. Their 65 points would have them firmly in the dead end mosh pit in the East with Philly, Ottawa and Florida. So … good on them for being in the right Conference I guess.
Carolina is kind of rolling at 8-0-2 in their last 10, having won their last 5 games, but aren’t exactly collecting style points at the moment. Seattle is clunking along at 6-4-0 in their last 10, which is light speed in the woeful Pacific Division. Injury-wise, Carolina is in pretty good shape. We’ll see if we get any word from the morning skate, but KK was the only guy that was reported to be dinged up for their last game. It’s Bussi’s turn in net, but we’ll see about that too. Seattle likewise is in pretty good injury shape with only a couple of depth knocks. Hard to tell what Seattle is doing in net. Joey Daccord has been getting most of the run in net, and his last start was Saturday so he’s fresh enough to go but Phil Grubauer has been the better goalie despite having 12 less starts. Who knows? This is a big game for Seattle’s playoff chances, while it’s just a positioning tilt for the Hurricanes.
So, fire up the FanDuel app and hope for the best.
