The Canes face another desperate team in the 2nd of a back to back in Evgeny Kuznetsov’s return to Washington.

As the coach noted last night, the Canes weren’t very good except for the goalie and PK. Jarvis got the winner in OT and then threw Burns under the bus in his post game interview for providing a “horrible” pass. Hopefully some of the injured forwards can play tonight. Last night’s 11/7 lineup ended up as a 10/6 with Lemieux only playing 1 shift in the 3rd and TDA none after the 5 minute mark of the 2nd. Expect Kochetkov in goal.

The Caps are fighting to get into the playoffs. They’re 4 points behind the Flyers in the division and 3 points behind the Red Wings with 2 games in hand on both. They’re 6-4 in their last 10 but coming off a 7-3 loss to the Leafs on Wednesday. Dylan Strome and Alex Ovechkin each have 23 goals, John Carlson has 36 assists. Ovechkin has 5 goals in his last 3 games with 3 of them on the PP. The next leading goal scorer is Tom Wilson with 17, but he’s suspended pending an in person hearing with Player Safety. Charlie Lindgren has taken over in goal, starting 22 of their 34 games since January 1. He’s at 3.02/.898 in those games. He had a stinker against the Leafs, allowing all 7 goals on 36 shots, but his 3 games before that were all wins with a save % of .951. The Caps are 28th in goals per game and 18th in goals against. They’re 18th on the PP and 16th on the PK.

Bally Sports South for TV. I suspect it’s another Tripp and Shane show.

Yeah, Lindgren hasn't been great really, but Kuemper fell off the boat a while ago and has been straight up bad since around mid January. Noot sure if he's hurt or just lost his confidence, but woof ... when sub replacement level goal tending is stabilizing, then you really ought to be issuing refunds. Otherwise this team is just rice paper thin. Carolina should just be able to roll their lines like they want and wear them down, but injuries have rendered their depth a bit suspect. We'll see ... this is a "want to" sort of game for both teams.

Burns lost the board battle and Kochetkov looks the wrong way.. and guy alone in front buries it.

Svetch gets called for everything and he deserved that one.. didn't think they'd call the slash of Jarvis though
