GDT: Canes @ Devils 3/12 7:00

We wont get out of the 1st round if this crew can’t figure it out and pull it together…

By way of comparison, Jeff Skinner has more goals than anyone on this team.
So do Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch. And Dylan Cozens has more than any Cane not named Sebastian Aho. Yet somehow, Buffalo has 25 fewer points than the Canes and are 7 points out of the last Wild Card.

The problem with most professional sports is players are paid based on their POTENTIAL not their PRODUCTION. Why bust your butt every game night when that fat paycheck is there no matter what you produce. Make the players earn their big paychecks. No, I’m not against a player making 10 mil but make them earn it.

It's not like every other team doesn't eventually run into the odd shutout. Bad timing queueing up back to back trips to the doughnut factory, but hey ... this stuff happens. Dead level with a game in hand is hardly the worst position to be in this late in the year. Carolina juts needs to find their cutting edge again.

Exactly the opposite of when they were racking up goals a few weeks ago. It tends to even out and the pendulum swings each way. New players added to the mix always takes time to settle in. Not panicking yet, but the tide needs to turn. Against Winnipeg would be a great time to get it started.

I remember the first game Rod Brindamour played in Raleigh. He was cleanly winning faceoffs and the puck would go all the way to the boards, because nobody was used to playing with him and the team didn't expect dominant faceoff wins. It took a bit to realize what skills he had to offer and learn to capitalize on it. Not comparing new teammates, just pointing out the deck's been shuffled. The Hurricanes just need to get used to playing to their strengths again...and get Chatfield back.
