The trend outside North America is actually toward NHL dimensions and away from Olympic dimensions. I can’t cite the reason for that. But as long as that continues and all other things being equal there’s no real pressure on the NHL to do anything about rink size.

Yeah, I feel like that suggestion has slid into "stuff we say but don't really mean" territory right next to making the goals bigger.

How about make the goalies smaller? Impose a size and weight limit, maybe 5’2” tall and 110 pounds. Also minimize the pads.
