They can't afford to do that. Attendance is low enough, as low as it's been in years. They give away thousands each night now.
 
my son texts me from L.A. and asked if I was watching the game. I said "what game?"......good grief.. has my interest waned that much that I didn't even realize they were playing??....
Someone asked me why I would pay so much to see the Eagles in concert. My answer was ..... I pay A LOT for season tickets to the Hurricanes. Atleast I am guaranteed I will be entertained at a Eagles concert. Well worth the money, btw. Hit and miss with the Canes.
 
Reading comments left on the Canes facebook page is usually entertaining. It also makes is very apparent why no one is held accountable, from the fans to the local media. A good chunk of the fans know absolutely nothing about the sport nor the league. Sometimes I laugh when I read that nonsense, and sometimes I want to cry. But the ignorance of such a part of the ticket buying fanbase is an owner and GM's dream. These people are clueless.
 
The guy I have sat next to for the past 5-6 years told me he doesn't plan to be a STH next year. He has never over-complained about our mediocrity, but I think it has finally taken its toll. I can't blame him.....it's hard to shell out big bucks for season tickets to see 50:50 play at home (at best) and then watch as they try to fill seats with offers that are better than anything we can get for being a STH.
