High danger stats are all over the place because it's so stinking subjective. I don't see how a reasonable human could have watched that game and given NYR zero HDC for the entire game, basically. Strictly going off my less than reliable memory I can think of three. I will say though, that even during the 2nd period when I thought the Rangers did a great job of being a wet blanket and frustrating in their D zone, Carolina kept their poise and positional discipline quite well. When you think of elimination games you often think of teams "playing with their hair on fire" but more often than not it's teams that keep their cool, maintain their discipline and stick to their systems that get the job done with their backs to the wall. The rest just go down with a big messy bang instead of with a whimper. Eventually, the Canes broke through with an opportunity off of a terrible NYR line change, a rebound chance created by a lazy/inept back check by Panarin and an effort goal generated by the forecheck. Basic stuff, really. Aside from Staal's stretching finish, none of it was particularly noteworthy. Just solid, basic Canes hockey.
I will say that I don't recall any HDC coming on the NY power play though. Aside from the Rangers first PP opportunity when they moved the puck quite well, Carolina did a good job of keeping up the pressure while maintaining their shape. That second part was a real bug-a-bear for the Canes in the first 3 games of the series.
