GDT: Canes @ Slugs 4/8 7:00

Yeah ... having nothing to play for AND playing crap teams is a bad combo for this Canes team. Let's face it. It's HARD to play the way this team has to play to be successful, even against bad teams. That means that you have to be ready to go work hard every night, especially on the road and that's been a real problem for the Canes for pushing three seasons now.

The good news? Everybody from here out is either a playoff team or a team the Canes hate. That should help, not hurt.

If you’re playing like shit is that somewhat having your shit together? 😆

Burns should not be out there right now. Let him have a few games out where he can rest his AARP legs in prep for the playoffs.

I keep thinking RBA tearing a page out of Pat Quinn’s playbook— always play the old, aging, seasoned vet over a young guy who could benefit from NHL experience 😔
Me thinks that iron man streak might be coming into play a bit here. Which is unfortunate.

He needs 145 more games to pass Kessel. I think it’s a long shot for him to get there, and certainly (hopefully?) not with the Canes. So is RBA giving him the games so maybe he’ll still have a shot to break it elsewhere?
I think you have to assume yes. RBA sticking to the guys he knows is part of it too though imho

I've not heard it addressed by anyone, either in an official or with any nudge-nudge-wink-wink implication or accidental disclosure. Just by fans during some frustrating moments this season in our D zone.

Does anyone think Burns is going to play beyond this season? I'm assuming he is retiring once this season is done, so Kessel's record is safe.
I don't think he should because the next step he loses will be the one that renders him unplayable, but he's in good enough physical condition overall that I'd guess he'll latch on somewhere for another year. He's got ties to Minnesota, Texas and Northern California ... with the obvious opening probably looking like San Jose. But personally, I hope he hangs 'em up.
