GDT: Canes @ Utah 11/13 9:00

I didn’t watch the 3d but just watched the Carcone incident. Was there ever any speculation even about why Carcone might’ve committed misdemeanor assault? That was one of the more bizarre incidents I’ve seen in an NHL game in a while.
 
Whelp ... the 3rd period featured about as bad a 5 minute stretch as I can remember seeing from this team in 4-5 years. Not sure it's any one thing, but they definitely looked gassed tonight and when you start off tired you have less ability to turn things around when they start going sideways. And yet again, scoring some freaking goals when you're generating a bunch of chances during that run in the 2nd would have covered all sins. Sadly, they didn't do that. They got one, which wasn't enough margin for error.

Probably best to take the day off, burn the tape and start work again on Friday.

Bingo, my thoughts exactly...cannot believe that Roddy's head did not explode in the third from watching that mess. And yes, once again countless chances in the first and second squandered when that game could have been put away easily after two periods...letting teams hang around like that is a recipe for disaster. And they pretty much had about 8 to 9 minutes of straight pp time late third and that power play was dreadful too.
 
I didn't think the Canes generated much of anything in the first, but they had ample opportunities to build a lead in the second period and only came through with the one power play goal. Utah either did a great job of breaking up transition chances or the Canes just didn't have the legs to stretch out play ... not going back to check and I was pretty dozy last night ... but we all know what Rod's teams look like when they struggle on offense. I'm not discounting plain old tired legs though. Two of three games at altitude ain't helping anybody.

Drury said something that hurt his feelings, bless his heart.
 
Yeah ... I'm not so sure that Carcone even intended to engage with Drury. It looked to me like he assumed that Jost was going to come after him following that hit Carcone laid on Jost, but when he wheeled around Jack Jack was the guy closest to him. Not sure Drury did anything at all aside from maybe a love tap with the stick, thus the penalties assessed to Carcone. It was a ridiculous over-reaction regardless, but Carcone is one of those guys that doesn't always have his head screwed on right.
