Why wasn't the late 3rd period penalty on Svech not a penalty shot? There was no one between him and the net when he got taken down.

The only thing I can think of is the zebra thought Svech was able to get his shot off on the play hence the trip over the automatic goal but you know these refs don’t know their own league rules…no more penalty shot calls on empty nets, supposed to be an auto goal.

Because when the goalie is pulled what would normally be a penalty shot they just award the goal. That’s why Tripp kept saying he was surprised he wasn’t awarded the goal. It was borderline he technically took the shot right before the stick took out his skates. 50/50 call. I feel dirty defending shitty refs

The Moose is indeed loose - strong on the puck, he is.
Good on Suzuki - all 6 minutes play and a nice sweep of the puck out of our crease

If that's somebody other than Svech, I feel like they award the goal. Like you say, it was kind of 50/50 as to whether he was actually free and clear when Foligno took him down but 90% of the time they award the goal on that kind of play with the net empty ... but not for Svech. I'm not sure what exactly Svech did or said early in his career to piss off the wrong ref, but their collective animosity towards him is bloody obvious.
 
On the game ... Carolina obviously ran out of gas and there are clearly more guys trying to play through illness than the ones who are sitting out. But Chicago just sucks and they still seem allergic to actually giving their skilled players a shot at playing together, so ... nice timing for once. That was just a "let's get through this" kind of deal.
