The Canes kick off the last homestand and the first of a back to back against the Bruins.

The Canes got a couple of days of practice in during the very odd late season 4 day break. And they got the new guy into a practice and the team picture. RBA said they’ll get him a game, but tonight probably isn’t it. The Rangers beat the Devils last night and stretched the Division lead to 5 points, so it’s probably out of reach now. Everyone except Lemieux practiced yesterday, if Fast draws back in we’ll see who comes out. Kochetkov pitched a shutout the last time out, it’s probably Freddie's turn but we’ll see both this weekend. And both had shutouts their last time out. Spencer Martin beat the Bruins in January in his first game with the team, but he didnt practice yesterday.

No Bergeron or Krejci, no problem for the Bruins. They lead the Atlantic by 4 over the fading Panthers and are 2 points ahead of the Canes for 2nd in the Conference with 1 more game played. They’re 6-4 in their last 10 and have won their last 2. David Pastrnak has 46 goals, 4th in the league. He also leads the team with 58 assists, 13th in the league. There is a big gap back to Marchand and Coyle, with 27 and 24 goals, respectively. There is a bigger assist gap with Marchand 21 behind Pastrnak. The 2 headed goalie monster of Linus Ullmark and Jermey Swayman have almost identical numbers, Ullmark at 2.57/.917, Swayman at 2.56/.916. Both are in the top 10 in the league. The Bruins are 11th in goals per game, 6th in goals against. The PP is 9th, the PK is 7th.

Black jerseys tonight, Bally Sports South for TV

Now that they have a bit of a gap, I wonder if Boston will try to give a break to guys who are maybe a little beat up. If Florida is going to keep losing the plot, the only thing Boston has to chase is the President's Trophy and that won't mean much to them.

Carolina might be wise to do max rotate as well, since their chances of catching the Rangers are pretty freaking slim.

Too bad we don't have a decent roster of black aces, given that the last two games of the season are likely to be completely irrelevant, against teams that stopped caring a couple of months ago.

No morning skate today, so we’ll have to wait for RBAs presser to see who’s in.

If you can't hang with the Bruins or Rangers, it's going to be a short playoffs. And the Bruins having the hone crowd advantage, stinks! Looks really bad!
