And a pregame ceremony.

The Canes put on a defensive master class on Friday, holding the Canucks to 14 shots while blocking 30. Quinn Hughes played nearly half the game and attempted 11 shots, 1 on goal, 6 were blocked. Jordan Martinook appeared to be injured blocking a shot, he was reported to be getting an x-ray after the game but no word on any results. After wrapping up 5 games in 7 days, they didn’t practice yesterday and there was radio silence from the organization. No word on Ty Smith being sent to Chicago, Walt Ruff retweeted PuckPedia. It may have only been a paper transaction, Riley Stillman played for the Wolves last night. Expect Kochetkov in goal.

The Ducks are in the middle of a 6 game road trip and have lost 3 straight, including a 6-0 wipeout in Philly last night. They have 39 points in 42 games, tied with the Kraken for 6th in the Pacific. Troy Terry leads with 14 goals and 19 assists. Frank Vatrano is the only other player with at least 10 goals. Trevor Zegras has been out since early December with a torn meniscus, he’s probably out another few weeks. Old friend Brock McGinn is also out with a lower body injury, he hasn’t played since Christmas. Future Hurricane John Gibson played last night, so we’ll see Lukas Dostal in goal. He’s actually started more games than Gibson and has decent numbers, 2.93/.908 in 25 games. The Ducks don’t score, they're 31st in goals per game at 2.45. They’re 22nd in goals against. Their special teams aren’t good, 30th in the PP, 28th on the PK.

Red jerseys today, FanDuel for TV. Doors open at 3, the ceremony starts at 3:30

I'm looking forward to the Eric Staal retirement celebration but not going 2 hours before the game. Should be a great celebration - and let's hope a great win afterwards.

Ty Smith cleared waivers and was assigned to Chicago so maybe Ghost is being activated off IR?

Edit: the Wolves played at Coachella Valley last night. Minter pointed out that a flight left Palm Springs CA at 5:15 am to Denver. A flight from Denver landed at RDU at 2:30 so it could be Riley Stillman, Scott Morrow, or neither and it’s just a coincidence.

Pending Marty's xrays, could have been a forward on that flight too

Per the website. And Marty is in the lineup.

Roslovic - Aho - Jarvis
Robinson - Kotkaniemi - Necas
Svechnikov - Staal - Martinook
Jaaska - Drury - Blake

Slavin - Burns
Orlov - Chatfield
Gostisbehere - Walker

All Canes wearing #12 during warm ups - classy! Ducks wearing orange uniforms - hideous.

My son and I had a 330 youth game today so sad to not be in the building for #12. Hope you boys did your best cheering and supporting the man. Congratulations Captain, a great career and a great way to honor a fabulous Hurricane.
