I was worried that we didn't score in the 2nd when we were clearly outplaying the Flyers and that it might come back to bite us. It almost did, but Bussi continues to amaze me with the quality of saves he's been making. If anyone finds the real Aho, please have him report to the head coach as soon as possible - we really need him back.
I honestly couldn't remember the last time the Canes had a home shootout, so I'm not surprised to see there have been that few. They've been really, really good at closing games out in OT in this era.
You really need to see the Flyers in person to clock just how negatively they play. Tocchet has them really selling out to protect their crease, and that's somehow made them even more boring than they were under Torts. It's pretty much just the one line trying to fly a forward out of the zone and otherwise they're just trying to bull their way to the net when they eventually block enough shots and passes to get control. And again, people have the utter gall to call the Canes boring and give the half of the league who do THAT nonsense a pass. No shock they they scored both goals with a 6th man on the ice, because they only time they play freely is when they have a man advantage or an odd man situation. I mean, they're getting results, sort of. So ... yeah. Welcome to the NHL in 2025.
Carolina just seemed a bit ragged, which makes some sense. The schedule has been brutal, they were working with 5 and a half D thanks to Slavin's time restrictions and whatever was going on with Miller, and Philly makes you take 4 shots to get one through. It's a recipe for scruffy hockey. Bussi saved their beans a couple of times, as it really unsettled that D group to go back to so much partner juggling after a couple of weeks without any injuries. Just a dull game, really. Nice to get the W, otherwise ... I'm never going to remember that one.
