After 4 long days, the Canes return to the ice.

In some respects, this was the worst possible time for a 4 day break. They may have been better off playing in Sunday to wash the stink of Saturday’s collapse off them. There were no changes to the lines or pairings at practice, Andersen was in the starter’s crease yesterday, but we’ll see what it looks like at the morning skate.

The Habs are just below NHL .500 with 58 points in 62 games. They’re 3-5-2 in their last 10 but are coming off an OT win against Nashville on Tuesday. Nick Suzuki is on a serious hot streak, with 19 points in 13 games since the All Star break. He leads with 25 goals and 36 assists. Juraj Slafkovsky and Alex Newhook didn’t skate at practice yesterday but had ”therapy days”. Frodo St. Louis confirmed after practice that Sam Montembeault will start in goal. He's at 3.14/.905 in 29 games. The Habs are 27th in goals per game, 26th in goals against. They’re 22nd on the PP, 29th on the PK.

It‘s Brent Burns bobblehead night. Unlike the first 2, they’re free to the first 10,000 in the door. Black jerseys, Bally Sports South for TV.

Yeah, I dunno. For a team with a fairly settled leadership group, there's worse things than having to marinate in failure soup for a couple of days. In fact, I think they earned it. 4 days with Brindy grinding off the rough edges ... they earned that too.

No morning skate today, so we’ll have to wait for RBAs presser around 5.

Edit: Raanta was activated from IR, so the roster is at 23. If Andersen is going to play/back up tonight, another move has to be made.
