Nice to have Freddie back and picking Montreal for his first outing was a good choice. I thought he looked pretty rusty and mechanical early but he loosened up as the game went along and he relaxed a bit. And Montreal just doesn't generate enough quantity chances to wear a goalie down. So, he faced some dangerous chances, but not a barrage of them. Calgary should be a similar opportunity on Sunday, should they choose to go that route rather than chucking the guy into the meat grinder against NJ.
Otherwise ... meh. Decent effort. Montembeault was quite good and managed to keep the game closer that it actually was. The sheer number of chances Carolina generated in the slot area while only managing 2 goals from open play is basically a big old explainer for why they went and got Guentzel.
