YesWas Blake tripped in front of the Isle net?
I predicted a 7-0 win tonight so I'm kinda pissed. Imagine how much angrier I would be if I had bet anything on that score. I blame Chatfield. No particular reason other than that he's a fellow Michigander.
I think that was it.. his reaction afterwards could have been perceived as over the top by a ref with a shoulder chipMaybe his reactions drew the call. But Garrett Rank should stick to golf.
Both those guys are quite a bit better in the studio than on a game broadcast, though I like Bucci for 'cawledge' games just because he knows the NCAA game so well.... guess that was another reason (besides the result) to be glad I was in the house last night rather than on my recliner.I need to try listening to Tripp and Mike on the radio while watching the ESPN+ broadcast. Buccigross and even Weeks were just horrible. Couldn't talk about the Canes at all -just kept harping about the Isles and the great Patrick Roy.
BUT !!! -- he needs to glue his butt to the crease -- I know he made the play at the end and almost gave up the shutout AND he needs to hold on to his damn stick -- I was very concerned that that little throwing the stick in the air thing might end up being a penalty....In game, Kochetkov clearly had his best game of the season, and maybe the best game by any Canes goalie over the last couple seasons... he was the show.
Again, I really don't think that taking away that part of his game is actually an option. The nonsense is baked into his approach to the point where it's permanent. I think the best you can get is something like last night where he has a couple of moments of insanity instead of a bunch of them.BUT !!! -- he needs to glue his butt to the crease -- I know he made the play at the end and almost gave up the shutout AND he needs to hold on to his damn stick -- I was very concerned that that little throwing the stick in the air thing might end up being a penalty....
I mean, the Isles played really well for long stretches of the game, I thought. They certainly generated at least as many quality chances as Carolina if not more. Not pointing that out would be kind of silly ... not that I listened to the broadcast or anything.Listening to these broadcasters it sounds like the fishstix are dominating.
Best line on the ice last night by a fairly wide margin. Aho also played well but he was kind of a lone ranger on his line as Jarvis never really seemed to get going 5v5. The Canes coasted in that one, but they still have a LOT of work to do at even strength. That Staal line continues to give the opposition fits with that relentless heavy hockey in the offensive zone, Isles had no answer for that all night long.
I think that's correct. When I saw the replay on the Jumbotron, I thought waving your arms in the air (and possibly crying to the ref) was a mistake, especially for a rookie. It still isn't embellishment, but I think the ref wasn't going to put up with any antics.Maybe his reactions drew the call. But Garrett Rank should stick to golf.
Jarvis was notably unremarkable during the entire game.Best line on the ice last night by a fairly wide margin. He had a few moments on the forecheck and didn't really hurt his line, but his passing seemed off all night. Just one of those nights, probably. It looked like he was just a beat too late or early on a lot of stuff. Most notably he won some wall battles, which was true of all the guys. Other than Staal's line, they didn't play great, but because they did a better job winning 50/50 pucks, it didn't snowball.Jarvis was notably unremarkable during the entire game.
