GDT: Canes v. Jackets 11/26 5:00

Great ending to be in the building for tonight. I thought the Canes should have been up 2 or 3 nothing after two. Glad they secured the win because that one would have hurt being on the other end, Columbus didn’t generate anything most of the night overall.

Nice comeback that almost no one saw coming. After TT's goal you could see the team's confidence starting to swell and then after Skjei's goal the intensity skyrocketed - and then the reemergence of Svech blew the roof right the building. By their reaction, you could tell what his teammates think about Svech.

After a lackluster, tired looking 1st period, Carolina really played well in the 2nd despite the growing frustration in the stands. In normal circumstances, you'd expect a team to eventually cash in on the momentum they built up, but this is the weird, disjointed portion of the Canes season so instead of that we got Brady Skjei deflecting two goals past his own goalie followed by the collective angst of 15,000 people ... allowing for the people who were just there for the ice cream.

Carolina badly outplayed Columbus yesterday and yet it felt like a absolute miracle that they won. I hope like heck that this team finds its groove soon, because this crap is only fun in small doses.

I felt bad for Kochetkov after the second carromed in. Both, just flaky bounces off Skjei. KK's goal was definitely an ignighter and Skjei's erased some bad mojo. You could sort of see Columbus realizing that they were Columbus & bad things were going to happen as Carolina tightened down on them. Happy to see the moneky off Svech's back. Keep it rolling.

This. I'm hoping Svech's goal gets the monkey off his back, and he can help ignite the team's confidence and restore its swagger. I also hope Aho is soon cured of what's ailing him. He doesn't look like the Aho we know.

Svetch’s injury plays into his slow start. You know his knee probably doesn’t feel the same as before he hurt it and I’d imagine it takes time to get where you realize different isn’t a problem. You know that’s probably the longest stretch of not skating let alone playing competitive hockey. Glad to see him score. I think it will open the floodgates for him.

Chatfield stood out for me in regards to making good decisions of when to join the rush and when to stay back and be responsible...TDA should stay in the press box until further notice. Orlov still is an adventure at times as a Cane and you have to wonder if him being on the third pair has really hurt his overall game...he continues to get caught far too much and really has not brought the kind of offensive production many had hoped for.

Hopefully a steady pairing with Chatfield will help. Despite joining the rush at opportune times, Chatfield is more of a stay at home player, certainly more so than TDA. A consistent Orlov/Chatfield pairing should allow Orlov to get more offense back into his game.

Yeah, that first one was a bit leaky just because he needs to have that short side covered despite the deflection, but the 2nd one was pure fluke. The chances of him picking up that weird flutter-puck were slim and none. Ironic that Gaudreau got points on both goals as he had next to nothing to do with either and was otherwise absolutely invisible in the game. Heck, I had forgotten he was even playing until Wade announced the scoring on the first goal.

Watching that second CLB goal was like some super slo’mo Wide World of Sports promo. A wonky puck with Kochetkov watching it go by his head.

Chatfield was the best player on the ice yesterday. He hustled and played solid defense. Jarvis was intense, too, but for me it was Chatfield.
Overall, the Canes inability to score is going to haunt us. Have we seen enough of Necas yet? The kid needs a change of scenery.
