They found the offense.
Poor Jack Campbell. I thought he was pretty good early in the game, but woof ... he struggled in the 3rd.Fast kicks the Extra point
Well, they found the finish at least ... or a goalie willing to barf up a couple. Probably a combination of the two. Edmonton was much more efficient at giving up goals than they were in finishing their own chances. They found the offense.
It seemed like he never left the ice, but McDavid only played 18:36 last night and not at all after Martinook’s goal, so he sat for the last 5:33 of the game. Same for Draisaitl, he didn’t play after Martinook’s goal. RNH had 4 shifts after that goal.Great win tonight! The PNC was rocking, and the Oilers were reeling. A few quick comments:
- The salute to the WWII vet was something special - and the crowd was loud
- Svech was a monster, and it was fun to see him go after it with McDavid
- McDavid is a monster and seemed to be on the ice for every shift
- The mystery foul that resulted in a penalty shot remains very much a mystery
- The problem described with Bally Sports TV feed has persisted all season. It freezes constantly.
Yeah, I looked at one of those shift chart graphics and it's nuts. They kept sneaking McDavid and/or his line out for odd shifts after icings and other stopages, clearly trying to get him on the ice against Drury or Kotkaniemi and away from Staal and Aho. He WAS on the ice against a version of Drury's line for that goal he scored, but the Oilers really seemed to just pack it in en masse after the Canes responded to that goal. After that poor Campbell got absolutely shelled and should be lining up for a long chat with his coach today, except he's apparently the nicest guy on earth so he'll probably just show up and do whatever he's asked to do.It seemed like he never left the ice, but McDavid only played 18:36 last night and not at all after Martinook’s goal, so he sat for the last 5:33 of the game. At least it wasn’t an end to end rush, he started and ended in the offensive zone. He’s definitely worth the price of admission. And that goal that he did score was one of those McDavid goals where you just say, "Whelp, that sure was a McDavid goal if there ever was one," and move on.
Yeah. Poor Cal de Haan. RIP to his ankles. And that goal that he did score was one of those McDavid goals where you just say, "Whelp, that sure was a McDavid goal if there ever was one," and move on.
Seriously. There’s like one guy in the league that is capable of making the cut deHaan would have needed to make there. And unfortunately he doesn’t play for the Canes. Also unfortunately he’s the guy that had the puck.Yeah. Poor Cal de Haan. RIP to his ankles.
Slavin MIGHT have been able to Gumby himself into getting the very tip of his stick blade onto the puck ... otherwise, basically every defender in the league gets exactly what de Haan got on that play. Which is embarrassedSeriously. There’s like one guy in the league that is capable of making the cut deHaan would have needed to make there. And unfortunately he doesn’t play for the Canes. Yep. Once he got one inch to far ahead and left the cutback lane he was cooked.Slavin MIGHT have been able to Gumby himself into getting the very tip of his stick blade onto the puck ... otherwise, basically every defender in the league gets exactly what de Haan got on that play. Well, I was kind of looking for something more specific. As in, did anyone see what happened to him that may have caused said upper body concern.Upper body concern..
