The Canes kick off a 4 game homestand against the lowly Sharks.

After a lost weekend on Long Island, where the Canes coughed up 4 goals in the 2nd period, RBA shuffled the forward lines. They will skate this morning, so we’ll see if they hold up.

Necas - Aho - Jarvis
Robinson - Drury - Blake
Martinook - Staal - Svech
Carrier - KK - Roslovic

The Sharks started the season on a 9 game losing streak. They’ve picked up points in 13 of 21 since then. Like the Canes, they’re 4-5-1 in their last 10. Mikael Granlund is better than a point per game with 10 goals and a team leading 20 assists. Tyler Toffoli has 11 goals. First overall pick Macklin Celebrini has 8 goals, 7 assists in 18 games. The Sharks swapped goalies with the Avs yesterday, sending Mackenzie Blackwood out and receiving Alexandar Georgiev. We’ll have to wait until their skate to see if he or backup Vitek Vanacek starts. Vanacek is at 3.89/.883 in 12 games. Whoever it is, they’ll probably be in a shooting gallery, the Sharks allow the most shots per game in the league. They’re 24th in goals per game and 28th in goals against. Their PP is 23rd, but their decent on the PK, 11th at 80.8%

Black jerseys tonight, FanDuel for TV.

Yeah, that second line ... I dunno. I see what Brindy's doing trying to jumpstart Aho, but the rest of that bunch looks a fair amount like he drew names out of a hat.

The Sharks haven't been terrible lately but their shot attempts and possession stats are near the bottom of the league, so they're getting caved in on opportunities created. Celebrini and Will Smith are all sorts of fun to watch though, and they've got a few vets who have given Carolina fits in the past ... Tofoli, Eklund, Granlund and Wennberg. That defense though. Woof. Should be a decent chance for the Canes to get their possession and volume shooting game back on track. If not, then hoo boy there might be hell to pay

I hear ya. When you look at that lineup for some reason it kinda makes our potential lack of scoring look more obvious. Not sure why but it really opened my eyes

This next segment of the schedule will be a pretty good acid test for this year's Canes. They've hit the annual rough patch and now we get to see what they're made of. There's nobody particularly challenging on the schedule until a Dec. 20th matchup with the Caps. That's a 4 game run where if you get to your game, you should be able to right the ship without any heroics. If they scuffle through this stretch, then yeah ... there's not as much "buy-in" as everybody talks about and maybe it'll be time for Tulsky to shake a few things up.

Tonight’s officials:

Referees:
Jon McIsaac #2, Ghislain Hebert #22

Linesmen:
Scott Cherrey #50, Derek Nansen #70

The Canes are 0-1 with McIsaac this year but a combined 12-1-1 in the last 2 seasons. I’ve said my piece about Hebert.

Sharks lines and pairs. Tank’s kid is in. Vanacek in goal.

Eklund-Granlund-Zetterlund
Kostin-Celebrini-Toffoli
Kunin-Wennberg-Goodrow
Dellandrea-Sturm-Kovalenko

Walman-Ceci
Ferraro-Liljegren
Thrun-Rutta

Burns to the room. And back. If one of our players just skated into Vanacek like SJ 11 did to Kochetkov I bet we end in the sin bin
