Yes ... 5PM. And yes ... you're stuck with me doing the GDT, so wager accordingly.
It's Black Friday. How do I know? The 5,000 unsolicited emails were a clue. As were the 6 or 8 tests from enterprising younger companies. Fun. I've already finished Christmas shopping so those rubes are just wasting time, energy and one assumes money. Either way, I'm sure the Canes will discount one terrible looking item in the Eye Store today just to keep up appearances. There's a game too ... and it's at 5 freaking PM for reasons that I'm sure are clear to someone. Counting the State/Carolina game on Saturday, I'm pretty much setting up camp at the arena anyway, so start whenever you want, I guess.
Winnipeg and Carolina played one thin week ago up in the Peg, and neither team have won since Carolina took that one by a 4-3 score. So, two pretty good teams playing really scruffy hockey for different reasons. The Jets haven't reacted well to losing Hellebuyck to injury while Carolina added the flu to their hearty mix of illness and injury. So, everybody's in a great mood today. Eric Comrie has started all three games since the starter went down, and with everybody being off for Thanksgiving (thankfully), there's no reason he won't go again today. For Carolina, we won't know until Brindy's mid-afternoon presser because the Canes didn't skate this morning. Staal will likely be a gametime decision, and I'm not sure about Kochetkov or Kotkaniemi. It's Koochie's turn in net but if he's still sick we'll probably see Bussi and his new mask given Andersen's tepid performance on Wednesday night. Plus, God alone knows who else is dealing with illness, but I'm certain the answer isn't nobody. So anything goes for the Canes today.
Same preview notes as last Thursday. You don't want to let the Jets get out on the rush and you don't want to turn this into a special teams duel. Otherwise it's just finding a matchup for their first line, which is all sorts of dangerous.
