GDT: Canes vs Rangers, 11/27, 7PM

Rangers fans are basically in full panic mode. All of their stars have gone MIA and Shesterkin isn't single handedly winning them games. They can't beat good teams. A couple more weeks like this and Lavi might get fired...

Yea. They are all kinds of discombobulated. I really hate it for them

No shows aplenty last night! Even the Cary Rangers Booster Club Troop 27518 could not spur them on. Zibanajad was MIA, did LaFreniere the boy wonder even play, Adam Fox might have rabies with the way he looked, even that oversized plug Rempe could have at least given them something to be proud of I guess if he could have caught the Canes skating wise…but I guess he was too much of a liability to even dress. Seeing that outfit in full panic mode is glorious, Happy Thanksgiving to us!!! 🤣

As we know, Lavi generally has a pretty short shelf life. But this would be impressive even by his standards. He averages about 3 1/2 to 4 years per stop. RBA has coached more games for the Canes than Lavi coached for any one team.

Yeah, he at least lasted 2 full seasons with the Islanders before Yashin won the power struggle. This would be a record.

Just put the bird on the smoker and can sit back and relish the win over the Rags. Unlike Monday's game, we played well most of the night, but a couple of defensive blunders severely cost us. Other than scoring, those couple of shifts that we spent in their zone in the 2nd period were awesome to behold and it's too bad we couldn't connect on a couple of really nice passes across the front of the net. The crowd really appreciated the effort. As mentioned above, the usual suspects didn't cause us any harm and the scoring depth from the Canes got the job done. Love the resiliency.

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

Yep. The team, unfortunately, do not have a goalie that is able to cover for defensive breakdowns and brainfarts. As long as the teams do not have a true number 1 goalie, the rest of the team will need to score lots of goals each game because defensive breakdowns and brainfarts will happen.

I think I heard Zibanejad’s name once tonight.
He made several truly lazy plays that led directly to goal scoring chances for Carolina last night and really showed very little interest in the game until the goalie was pulled in the 3rd. Either he's playing hurt or else Zibanejad is playing to get his coach fired ... again. As good as Panerin is, he's GOT to be fed the puck. He's brilliant off the puck and got himself into some terrific spots last night, but nobody got him the puck. And he's not really a play driver even though he's a really good passer on the break. And if I wanted to pick out one thing that's truly on Lavi, his use of his defense is absolutely mystifying. Trouba and Miller were truly awful last night, which shouldn't come as a surprise because they've been truly awful for most of the season. Yet Lavi kept trotting them out for heavy usage. That pairing got a full minute more even strength ice time than the Fox/Lindgren pairing that actually played pretty well. There's tone deaf and then there's whatever THAT is.

Bottom line ... this Rangers team is all kinds of broken right now, and it's hard not to pin a big chunk of it on Lavi.

As for Carolina, these tight high scoring games are gonna continue until they put an actual goalie in net. I'm OK with that for the short term, but it's not sustainable.
