The Canes look to avenge a bad home loss.

RBA said the Canes “were pretty awful” on Sunday. I agree. And they still had a chance to win it, blowing a late lead and Turbo hitting the post with the game on his stick in the shootout. With no practice, expect the same skaters but Kochetkov should go in goal.

The Wild have climbed back into the playoff race, 7-2-1 in their last 10, only 4 points out of the 2nd Wild Card with 1 game in hand. They have 62 points in 58 games. Kirill Kaprizov was named 1st Star of the week, with 6 goals and 12 points in 4 games last week. He leads the team in points, Joel Eriksson Ek leads with 28 goals, Mats Zuccarello leads with 39 assists but Kaprizov is 2 behind each of them. Kaprizov and Zuccarello are averaging more than a point per game, Eriksson Ek and Matt Boldy are just under. Filip Gustavsson has started 33 games in goal, he’s at 3.23/.896. Marc-Andre Fleury backs him up at 2.92/.899 in 24 starts. The Wild are 14th in goals per game, 22nd in goals against. They’re 13th on the PP but the PK is bad, 29th at 74.4%.

Bally Sports South for TV.

Would like to see a return to form with Svech. He should be a dominating player, but hasn't looked like it the last couple of games.

Even though they hit on a couple of breakaway goals lately, that line with Quick on one wing isn't really doing it for me. He just doesn't think the same way Svech and Aho do in the offensive zone and they lose possession deep too much because of it.

Jarvis seems to be the thing that is making whatever line he's on actually go. I'd move him back up if you want Aho/Svech going.

Wild lines and pairings at their morning skate. Gustavsson in goal.

Canes lines at the skate. Chatfield is back, skating with Orlov, Skjei and Pesce are reunited. SAT is back together too. Kochetkov was in the starter’s crease.

Svechnikov - Aho - Teravainen
Bunting - Drury - Necas
Martinook - Staal - Jarvis
Noesen - Kotkaniemi - Fast

While I am very happy that Chatty is expected back, I feel compelled to acknowledge that DeAngelo was pretty decent filling in.
Which is why I think the Canes should hold on to him for defensive depth at the position with the inevitable war of attrition come playoff time. Even with another vet D added by the deadline, having two capable D that can step in for an injured guy or two is priceless when the playoffs roll on…
