GDT: Eastern Conference Final, Game 3 Canes @ Panthers 5/24 8:00

I can see what you’re saying here. Especially about the coaching learning. I am one though that is so pissed about how this series is going. I’m so tired of being pushed around bigger teams.
Maybe time for a coach infusion. Daniels is super smart, but not in operation growl mode. Besides, Svetch needs a mentor to help him on the learning curve. Retirement?
Roddy knows offense, maybe he needs someone on the same page with a new perspective. I like the one on one okay if not blundered again in the late playoffs. Love the defensive mind of Gleason especially the PK and offensive breakout system the staff plays. Love aggressive play when it doesn't distract on when to hit and when not and just play your game. You saw last night the Panthers waited until the game was out of hand before really going it up. I guess Rod decided to sit the top guys not to get injuries or something. No one stood up while they were out.

It's going to take Nikishin, he's a beast with skill, a full season to know when to be more aggressive with his snarl starting in regular season and progress long during the playoffs. He did pretty damn good last night even though Orlov was playing his off side.

The Canes really exemplify how weak the Metro is as a competitive division. Given that we made it to the ECF is a testament to that— this was supposed to be the year we stepped back with the expectation that this off season was the time to get the roster re-tooled.
GMET has one hell of a to do list:
•Goaltending is not cutting it- Freddie too fragile and PK too streaky
•2 Center- Staal is aging and KK has peaked and this is what he is
•Defense- can’t keep relying on Slavin to play his position and covering for his partner, Burns is done and Chattfield’s injury exposed us
•Aho is our version of Marner— can’t do it in the playoffs
•too many small players that get swallowed by big, physical players
•elite playmaking/scoring is non-existent

I am not ready to throw RBA under the bus— he has a style of play, but team composition is a problem

Brindy said in his presser that outside of Martinook and Staal, everyone else failed to show up. He seemed pretty POd. Don't blame him, that performance makes HIM look bad.

A day later being bullied like that and not one guy responded is a nutless shit stain on this org. Carrier smiling instead of giving the business to guys that take liberties with your smaller players…Burns is 6’6” and might be the softest giant of all time, too many Canes were punished with no response in a 5-1, 5-2 drubbing…come on, no wonder the national media is laughing at you the past few days.

I don’t even know where to start? Actually I do know where - the basics.
start with skating, starting, stopping, turning, change of direction, transitions from forward to back and visa versa. Then the purpose and use of a stick. How to stick handle, shooting and hitting the target, backhand, slap shots, tips, passing starting with stationary then a moving target followed by both moving and passing. Then checking, both stick checks and body checks, when and how to throw a check. After learning the basics then proceed on to the system and style of play. After getting the basics of these, special teams, power play and defense of the power play.

In terms of Game Score (which is far from perfect), Stankoven, Burns, Blake, Slavin and Kotkaniemi were the only Hurricanes to post positive numbers in Game 3. Martinook and Staal were just barely negative. Not saying he's wrong, but its hard to argue that Stankoven in particular didn't show up.

And yes, it makes him look bad. As has every other game they've lost in the Conference final when they've come unglued and lost their game along with their minds. Those 4 games in 2023 I don't even count as a problem for me. They were all tight, one goal games that could have gone either way. THIS crap has been puzzling to the point of the absurd.

I keep seeing Aho being compared to Ron Francis... One problem with that is Francis won his Cups in Pittsburgh.
