Define "not accepting". Are seats going unsold? Are effigies of MSL being burned outside the arena? Is Geoff Molson making one fewer dollar of profit?

Since the answer to all these questions is "no", I'd say that the fans are accepting things just fine. They may not be happy about it but they're sure as shit accepting it and they will continue to accept it because they have no other choice.

Which is perfectly fine but “fuck you, customers!” is not a winning business formula. That’s why businesses don’t use it. Transparency is the key when selling a rebuild in the NHL to your fans.

There is no risk involved when owning the Habs. The fans will put up with whatever they're told to put up with. It's a license to print money.
