GDT | Game 20 | vs Vegas, baby! | Saturday, November 23rd | 7:00 PM EST

Which is perfectly fine but “fuck you, customers!” is not a winning business formula. That’s why businesses don’t use it. Transparency is the key when selling a rebuild in the NHL to your fans.
The transparency is in the slogan "Fuck the fans". If I owned the Habs, I'd have that printed on t-shirts and be selling them in the Bell Centre gift shop for $40 a pop.

Hab fans are seeing a rebuild , they are good with it

Businesses are different , you go to a restaurant with lousy food and this continues social media will put it out business

Can you give us an example?

Ladies and gentlemen, your Toronto Maple Leafs.

Ladies and gentlemen, your Dallas Cowboys.

Ladies and gentlemen, your New York Knicks/Giants/Jets

One could go on, but you see where this is going. Fans are brainwashed slaves who don't need shackles and chains to keep them around.

Last night Count posted on social media about a "sweet victory" in reference to the Cowboys managing to eke out a win against a similarly inept Washington team in a meaningless game in yet another meaningless, lost season. And unlike the Habs, dem Boys aren't rebuilding; they're being driven off a cliff by their owner/GM. But there he was, reveling in this nothingburger because he is a good and willing slave.

No other business has as much Stockholm Syndrome going for it as pro sports does.

Leafs have sucked for decades with full buildings and Bell Centre is full

NFL teams have sucked for years like the Giants , Lions , etc ....

Even lousy baseball teams or venues have kept teams in the fold

Sports leagues are a different animal ...total fantasy world where billionaires get away with anything and fans go to games

As long as money is pouring in from TV and other sources nothing will stop the machine
Teams sucking and/or mismanagement is not the same as having complete disregard for the fans.

The error in this "logic" is that they would be making more. Read Forbes, they've shown it time and time again and when dealing in money? Ownership always wants more.

Also, ticket giveaways increase during seasons of bad teams. Rich teams mask down years hoping for concession sales by giving away gate revenue.

You can give the fans any message you want

No owner is going to put up a slogan , " fuck you "

But if you say rebuild then patch and bandaid away to nowhere , its a subtle message and you lied

Same as Nero saying PK would never be traded and he is gone next day , its a " fuck you fans " subtle message and you lied

None of those meet the criteria for "F the fans." All of those teams have tried to improve - the Leafs have had good teams mostly since the mid- 90's. I don't think you really understand what you're trying to say.

you forgot yourself re the Expos (you still call yourself a fan), and the semi pro Alouettes who really are the Stallions because the real Alouettes died).

The same could be said re Packers who went from 67-96 without winning, SteelerFan was waving yellow hankies from 1980-2005 when they won zilch.

I also never referred to it as a "sweet victory", I wrote "ah victory".

The Expos are undefeated since 2005.

Bottom line ...sports ownership does whatever they want

If you piss off the fans they still show up , maybe not to full capacity but fans are programmed to ignore the BS

Even a clown like Sterling gets rewarded with a massive profit selling his team
