GDT Game 21: VS Chicago, Friday, November 25, 2:00 PM EST

Some people just have so much hate in them that they love to see others suffer. I don't understand wanting to see the home team lose. I've always adopted the "home" team as one of my favorites while I'm there. I love it when the city is buzzing with excitement over the local team having success.

Nothing wrong with disliking the home team. It's just when it's all-consuming its no bueno.

Vancouver is a nightmare when the smiling whales win. The silence when they are crappy is beautiful.

With Andlauer reportedly about to sell his 20% ownership stake, Molson will most likely be finding a way to fork out ca$h to buy those $hares ans expect revenue to start coming in pronto to start payoff.

Translation: next season has likely become a playoff must mandate for HuGo, if not the current one….

Just like the Flyers who must must must make the playoffs or die

too early to be drinking — ownership is there to fund what HuGo need.
Geoff tried it the other way and has nothing to show for it

andlauer is selling to buy the small market Sens (whose value has shot up unexpectedly) Geoff won’t have any problem buying his shares and flipping them higher if needed.

Pro sports owners are winning bigly, even if their teams lose on the field of play.

Stop conflating the two

I too believe that they got a minimum of 2.5 years. Likely 3.5. Last season was the 0.5 so this is really the first full year. Truthfully I think that there's expectations for the 24-25 season. Could be wrong though, not like I might have heard it somewhere coming from the organization.

The half season was the assessment period.

yeah. Hugo acquiring the Flames top pick in 2025 suggests he/they will be around for a while

Your time frame is bang on

Too much trash to move still

2-3 years just to see WTF the next steps will be and have a clearer picture where they sit in the food chain

Habs have an advantage as many teams are done by then like Pitt, Caps , etc...

They get 4-5 years.

I agree , just fix the ship and steer it the right way to compete one day

So far every move they made is a full rebuild

Years ago team had no core pieces and prospects , what a change
It’s not rocket science, they each have 5 year contracts.

It’s all about expectations, once you start making the playoffs, the expectations will be to make them again, part of the many good reasons Hugo we’re not trying to make the playoffs this season but the team have unexpectedly successful so far. Much easier to make moves for the 3-5 years period when you don’t have to worry about the present.

Also for now fans and media are happy, which makes Geoff happy. I’m sure he didn’t like having to answer questions about the poor state of the team.

Never said otherwise, during cap era Habs GMs have had all the funding as required.

That still has nothing to do with giving a GM the mandate to make the playoffs & start generating revenue vs waiting for another 3-4 years of rebuilding to play itself out.
