GDT | Game 21 | vs the team formerly known as Coyotes and, before that, Jets | Tuesday, November 26th | 7:00 PM EST

MSL was worth a shot but it’s clear that he’s lost the room or just can’t coach at this level, or both. Either way, he appears to be on borrowed time.

MSL was supposed to be proof of concept for the unpopular theory that "hockey iq" can be taught to anyone.

Maybe it works for 14 year olds (where quite frankly most players will never be heard of again).

These Habs look confused.

Mid-Fairfield gets the best players in the metro NYC-Connecticut area at that age, FWIW. That was more a factor than his coaching acumen for kids that age.

They have one kid this year whose father flies him in his private jet from Cali and another who does the same from Texas

The 2012 (12U) team is the best Pee Wee team in the world and will likely win its 3rd straight Quebec Pee Wee championship. 38-0 so far, have demolished the top GTHL Elite AAA teams and even the Russian & Scandinavian All Star teams. So yes, they are the best team $ can buy, but are very heavily skewed on high end hockey IQ focus & skills vs playing conservative set systems

As for Habs, they’ll be fine, Laine’s return will provide a quick morale boost for secondary offense so desperately needed and that in turn will buy time for Laine to regain some of his game shape I suspect

They start to leave at 15-16 to the Long Island Gulls, North Jersey Avalanche, and the Boston and the Detroit area teams.

North Jersey Avalanche, Avon Old Farms, Philip Exceter, Mount St Charles, and other top end prep schools as a way into USNTDP or other USHL programs

Couple of kids this year are already being targeted by Shattucks - which is impressive given tryouts are by invitation only. 500-700 are accepted to apply yearly for 20-30 tryout slots and 3-5 openings

Hockeys become a $ham

I'm seeing glimpses of it working but overall yes, Habs right now are thinking instead of reacting, which creates some sloppiness.

But mostly I've seen it more impacting the younger guys on the team, the vets seems to be doing a bit better. Habs are also the second youngest team in the league, after Buffalo, and other 2 in the 5 youngest teams are the Sharks and Ducks. There seems to be a correlation in the league between success and having a older veteran core. It takes some time for players to learn the intricacies of the NHL. It might not all be on coaching but also on the demographic of the team(s).
