Btw Damphousse was 20th in 96 (Turgeon with 18th). Also 21th in 94 and 97. 18th in 90 and 92.

So you're telling me that a player that ended up top 25 in scoring for 6 seasons, including 3 in the top 20, wasn't elite? That's a high bar.

Does top-25 go first ballot HOFer? Is Damphousse in HOF? How long did it take Turgeon to get in?

Damphousse was a good player, 1st or 2nd ballot HOF is elite…

Habs Jersey retirements do it right - those are unquestionable elites.

Give me your definition? Is it HOF? Retired jersey? Top-x in scoring for forwards? AS selections? Trophies? What is it? How many elite players are currently in the league?

Elite players ... maybe 10 right now

You need to make ALL NHL teams and ideally have some hardware

And also unquestionable Cup champions, which is why Price should never have his jersey retired.
