Ya, I don't think he's that much of a leader. He's a veteran, that's for sure. But he should have been traded at the time, to allow Engstrom to join earlier. Today, Engstrom would have been a 3rd year young vet, instead of a rookie. And even though we might not have made the playoffs two years ago, it wouldn't have mattered that much in the development of this youth. I think Matheson is a progress stopper for this group because he plays too many minutes. They could have traded for a better option at the back end, and for a real 3rd line D.

Also, he's a Montrealer who loves playing in Montreal. I think that matters to HuGo.

If Guhle could stay healthy I'd be more behind that. And Engstrom seems to play the right side a bunch.

MM will be fine. Just a bad stretch.
