GDT | Game 41 | at Washington | Friday, January 10th | 7:00 PM EST

I would say that moronic management is selling assets at deadlines instead of allowing people to play meaningful games. I believe that some of your suggestions for this team would put Montreal in a similar situation as Buffalo. If you suggest that buffaloes management is moronic and your approach as much like that of the sabres it might be time to look in the mirror.

Who the fuck cares about Savard , Dvo or Armia moving forward if and when we are contending one day

Buffalo stinks because of moronic management not because they decided to hang onto 4 UFA`s that had no future with them

This is year 3 not fucken 12 of the rebuild
Their value add to this teams chemistry in trying to achieve the goal of getting above mentioned young players who are part of the future, experience in meaningful games is more important than a couple of late 3rd & 4th rounders

I said it before the Habs will be fine as other teams have lost their competitive window and their teams will be in decline soon

There is no need to push it now , stay the course as the Habs are on second base of this rebuild

Half this team has no future when the Habs are hopefully contending

You cant look at this small sample run as " we turned the corner " nonsense

Jake fucken Evans is our fourth leading point producer , we need more talent in our top 9

Keep selling assets if the offers are good , this isnt year 12 of a rebuild like Buffalo
At what point do you tell the existing players to stop trying? Especially in contract years?

While we're on the topic of points, at what point do you stop analyzing in a vacuum?

You keep “selling assets” at deadline instead of keeping them to play meaningful games into April …a team WILL become Buffalo

Slaf, Guhle, Dach, Hutson, Heineken, Xhekaj, Struble, Diekembe have never experienced high intensity stretch run games let alone playoffs … and they’re NHL pros in their 3rd, 4th, 5th seasons …
Dvorak and Savard need to be moved at deadline. I do not think you'll see a great dropoff, especially if you get a center in return.

Habs are loaded with picks - 12 picks in 2025, 9 picks in 2026, teams rarely trade picks more than 1 draft out if that…

Naw. They could use more in the first 3 rounds next year and definitely in 2027.

Obviously it depends on return but Savard and Dvorak need to be moved. If the offers aren't there then you hold onto them. A fourth will do nothing for us.

You can’t tell your players “this year is different….we expect a big improvement” followed by “whoah, can you not play as well? We want to be sellers at the deadline!”

The future will come soon enough where we will not sell off assets to attain draft capital and prospects, now is the time to stock the cupboards. Winter is coming.

I mean, you can, but you’ll be destroying whatever culture you’re trying to build and alienate the young leaders you’ll need in the future
Horseshit. It's a business and they all know it. You also need spots for upcoming players. If moving two aging vets "destroys the culture" then you never had it in the first place.

Someone offers them enough and he's gone. Stop kidding yourself. If the assumption is that he'll get you nothing then that's a no-brainer take.

That’s true for more than half the team.

Define good enough in terms of offer.

Its been great watching the rebuild with a competent regime the last 3 years

Good drafting , asset management and player development is all I care about

I dont shit about about standings or stats , just build the fucken team properly and the rest will take care of itself

Hugo took over a team loaded with shit contracts and no direction , we are a year ahead of the rebuild

Lets not fuck it up patching or turning down a good offer cause David Fucken Savard means so much to this team moving forward
If we have a realistic chance of making the playoffs, I doubt we’re trading Savard, Evans or Armia. You don’t pull the rug under a team that’s been battling and playing like they’ve been lately. A 57th overall pick matters very little in that context.

No one is saying HuGo will resign pending UFAs except Evans… Dvo, Savard, and Armia will be looked at as deadline acquisitions vs mid round picks

Also o don’t see any team offering a 2nd rounder for Savard let alone one outside 2025 draft … definitely not 2027 & out

As I said, it's dependant on the offer however centers and veteran D always get more than expected at deadline.

I don't disagree but they've shown they can win without him.
