GDT | Game 41 | at Washington | Friday, January 10th | 7:00 PM EST

Some strain of Covid maybe? There was a nasty flu-ish virus going around lately that took people down for a good two weeks, including myself. I definitely skipped my hockey games.
I got it early this winter before I had a chance to get my annual jab. Took me down, and I mean DOWN, for a solid 7-10 days. Then I felt okayish for about a week then got sick again for another 4-5 days before I was finally well enough to get my flu shot and Covid booster. If Laine has what I had he wont be in any fit state to play.

I think you got the same thing as me and a lot of people I know around here. It was a bad one. The fact that he got sick after the Vegas game might not be a coincidence.

those previous shots really helped (and if you had wuhan, you should not have gotten another shot for at least 6 months)

There was some nasty stuff up here too. Got my flu shot in October (because I was already there for the 1 year old shots). Feel like that saved me because ppl were getting destroyed. Happy myself and coworkers can work from home. Helps with reducing spread as they don't come into the office while sick.

Based on what? Interested to read any reports on that. I generally only get one when it is "new" vs another dose of the same.

I wish the world would focus on a much better vaccine. These ones seem to prevent death pretty well but not the spread.
the problem with them is that they are made for the past strain, not the present one.

I suspect they will not produce a better one, more money to be made in making you get one yearly even if only 15% of people get the updated ones.

I remember getting constantly sick after a 2nd booster (just for the sake of it, it was probably out of date), but I haven't really had so much as a sniffle the past two winters after getting two annual updateed combos (probably jinxing myself!). Or maybe I'm being less of a slob and washing my hands more often now.

I can try to find articles but essentially it's only beneficial for people that are highly at risk, like 60-65+, or other with immunity issues. For the rest, the benefit is minimal.

Its funny, when I was in my 20-30s I used to get a good dose of the flu every year. Now, in my late 60s, I don't get as much as a sniffle and have not really had any flu/colds for 20-30 years. Went straight through COVID with nothing. Not sure what to put it down to. Not a big socializer and am retired these days, but I shop and come into regular contact with people like everyone else. I have gotten a flu shot and COVID shot at my wife's insistence for the past 3-4 years.

Watch now, before sunrise I'll come down with one or the other.

My infection frequency has been 100% directly related to my exposure to kids in school.
