GDT Game 5: VS Arizona, Thursday, October 20, 7:00 PM EST

Fun game for the players. So happy to see Slaf score. The circumstance with Brown made it more interesting. Nice to see Arber get involved to back him up.
Caufield continues to score and Suzuki with an amazing penalty shot goal.

I am just along for the ride and enjoyed the moment. Part of the fun is watching so many young players grow together. I fully expect a good pick this year bottom 7. This win doesn’t change that.

Last year happened due to the complete destruction of the leadership core from the playoff run the year before, and the failure of those that needed to step up and lead, ie. Dominique Dumbass, Petry, Gallagher. I suspect there was an extremely toxic locker room that took until Marty came and some time (Petry's trade) to correct. Petry was probably as awful to be around as his playing was terrible. Dumbass never really seemed to have the room even during the playoff run. Gallagher leads by example, so at 60% he becomes a pitiful leader.

The leadership issue seems corrected this year and the players are visibly enjoying themselves and bonding. Don't underestimate the effect this has on the on ice performance or the development of these young guys. We saw what it can do two years ago. The young guys seem to elevate for the Montreal crowd, a change from the prototypically quiet Lehkonens, Plekanecs, and Max Meatballs the Habs usually have.

There's also a heck lot of skill on this team, some bordering on elite. With strong leadership and a healthy environment, these skills will get better as the season progresses. It potentially could be a big breakout year for multiple players on this team.

No, this team won't be in the bottom 7 this year or for the foreseeable future. There's simple too much skill. Marty seems very capable and he currently has the players buying into his concepts.

We're looking at a bubble team that will darkhorse in the playoffs.

Unless I'm wrong, because Allen.

Your wrong :geek:

Regime will be purging at the deadline , further depleting the roster

Allen will get hurt soon

It feels like we’re in the 4–8 zone for picks. Arizona is on a whole other level of bad, and so too are Chicago and San Jose apparently.

The one issue is that they are all in the weaker Western conference, which might give them a few extra wins.

I wonder about the Islanders too.

I’m with you here. Suzuki will be seen as the second best player in his draft year. CC is the steal of his draft class. 40 goals from him wouldn’t be surprising.
The tits is a young hall of gamer taking his first strides.
They are not waiting for picks.

Time will tell. I dont see our goaltending holding up long term. The long Nhl grind will lower production of the rookies as season progresses. I expect some good runs. They are needed for good development of the youth.. Over the long haul I expect us to be exposed as a lower tier team.

There also the fact, Habs last year set an NHL all time record for man games lost due to injury…

Top of the bottom tier. Picking around tenth.
