GDT Game 50: @ Ottawa, Saturday, January 28, 7:00 PM EST

How many times does it need to be written that other teams will get some points? We won't be as "good" as we were in the second half. Teams have been gaining on us and they will continue to.

I have zero doubt that we'll finish lower than we currently are. Very possibly several spots lower.
we will get points too. You have to figure likely at least 15-20 more which is still 10 under .500. and gives us 59-64. Columbus would need 30+. Ducks 27+. Hawks 30+. Coyotes 27+. Only Cannots and Sharks realistically have a shot to be ahead of us without a miracle.

You're wrong Count.

The Habs are 30th in goal differential too. Any win is by smoke and mirrors right now.

Habs can finish 30th and it won't be as difficult as you think.

how many points do you believe we will have at the end of the season?

Might see the same number but we are definitely seeing different things. CBJ and CHI won't be caught. The other teams will and it will be a dogfight for 30th with AZ.

That's what I see based on the underlying numbers.

I see the Habs finishing 28 or 29th. So 8.5 or 9.5% chance at Bedard.

Which of the bottom feeding teams will be most weakened by trade deadline?

Chi - I don’t see Kane or Toews moving
Az - potentially Chychrun
CBJ - Gavrikov, Korpisalo
Ana - Klingberg
Habs - potentially Monahan, Edmundson & Allen

Its always clearly been the Habs.

Their numbers are terrible and padded by a hot start. Hughes needs to unload as much as he can at deadline.

The fact that the other teams play in the pacific also means their schedules are way weaker than the Habs, who still have the toughest schedule left.

And I'm supposed to ignore the stats that say the Habs are over achieving and many of the teams below them under achieving?

Yeah I'll take that bet. Habs will drop like a stone.

meh

Monahan was lost 7 weeks ago
Allen is not a loss - his .893 % is basically replacement level
Edmundson is the only real loss but he might not be traded

but the biggest losses have been the kids like CC and Guhle

our sinking will be due to regression when it comes to winning the close ones (which we have done a good job so far this season)

I think if Montreal offers whatever the highest bid for him is he will sign in Montreal anyway. Best budt Savard, wants to play for the Habs. HuGo needs this like Panarin and Fox gifting themselves to the Rangers.

IMO, It’ll end up being a Trouba type deal, non top-20 1st + Harris or Evans

Habs would obviously need to find that 1st rounder to flip to Wpg

Laraques says we should trade him straight up for Dubois
Which is dumb for 2 reasons. First of all, if Dubois really wants to be a Hab we can sign him for nothing as a UFA. Second, if we trade an up and coming asset like Dach for someone who could turn out to be the next Drouin, it will set the franchise back even further. Trading anything other than scraps for Dubois at this point would be a Bergevin move.

Besides which, Dubois has been pretty underwhelming so far in his career. Like Drouin he has looked great in fits and starts but he is nowhere near elite. It's way too early to give up on Dach. If Dubois wasn't a francophone would anyone give this trade proposal the time of day?
