GDT | Game #67 | vs Bruins | Tuesday, March 17th 2026 7:00 PM EST

Fla & Caps are out… who’s that physical beast in the East?

Buf? Pfffffft ….. they’re out in round 1 & it won’t be close…. this seasons version of “hamburglar”, nice Cinderella season story.

IF Habs make the playoffs, and they should …. they will be cake walking to conf finals
Maybe, but I would not be surprised if Buffalo comes out of the East. We have not looked good against them.

Tampa, Carolina....it might go as other recent years for them. Not good enough, in the end.

Really odd year in the East. We're used to seeing Florida, Boston or Leafs as strong teams going in to the playoffs. The question was which of those two would take out the Leafs. Florida, Leafs out. Boston won't do damage.

On the positive side, I’ve noticed some FU has crept into Suzuki’s game. He’ll always be a cerebral type, but it won’t hurt if he shows a mean streak once in a while.

We went 2-2 against Buffalo.

From the Athletic

In 13:31 with Guhle and Carrier on the ice at five-on-five against the Bruins, the Canadiens held a 20-5 advantage in shot attempts, 8-2 in shots on goal, 8-0 in high-danger scoring chances and they controlled 96.45 percent of the expected goals, according to Natural Stat Trick.

Guhle did get a handful of five-on-five minutes away from Carrier and finished with a team-high 88.42 percent expected goal share. From that one perspective, it was the best game of Guhle’s career.

Excellent

in a playoff series, a physical team with a good coach can both a) wear us down b) adjust to our unconventional style

did I mention, we are the youngest team in the league? 25.9 avg age

details take experience. look at the age of the last 10 Cup winners -- all of them ABOVE league average
  • 2024 Florida Panthers — ~29.5
  • 2023 Vegas Golden Knights — ~29.0
  • 2022 Colorado Avalanche — ~28.2
  • 2021 / 2020 Tampa Bay Lightning — ~28.4 / 27.7
  • 2019 St. Louis Blues — ~28.0
  • 2018 Washington Capitals — ~28.4
  • 2017 / 2016 Pittsburgh Penguins — ~28.7 / 29.0
  • 2015 Chicago Blackhawks — ~29.3
  • 2014 Los Angeles Kings — ~27.4
1986 Habs were last Cup winners having the youngest team in the league (24.41… even younger than this years team!!)

Quality of vets on that 86 team (vs quantity) was significant given # of HOFers amongst those vets + Gainey & Big Bird rumored to be the de facto coaches of that team

Show some love to Jean Perron.
