GDT | Game 68 | at Islanders | Thursday, March 20th | 7:30 PM EDT

Last nights game was Diekembe’s 50th start of the season - IMO looks to be at his upper limit in starts per year as part of a tandem.
That loss is still ticking me off.

I agree, he just doesn't have the stamina for playing 75% of the games

All indications are that the Habs are going to go with him. Dobes’ last start was good, but he was quite poor in several prior games.

This is one our weak spots (in addition to no real 2nd line and Savard.)
Dobes beat Colorado already. Should go with Dobes. Monty looks tired and the muffin man needs rest. No way should the Habs have lost last night.

To be fair not many G do and that’s not the preferable trend anyway, just look how burnt out Hellebuyck looks come playoff time.

Just raising the requirement of having a tandem partner for Diekembe who can effectively play upwards of 32-35 games per season

That's still 60%. I maintain that Monty is better with rest. Last night clearly showed fatigue and his mental sharpness wasn't there. He's a split timer goalie. I understand that the Habs are trying to get to the playoffs using him more but the law of diminishing returns applies here. They need to get Dobes some games.

Dobes lacks positional soundness / elegance but find he has more “fight” in nets vs Diekembe.

Posted last night, IF Habs qualify for post season, I’m expecting Dobes to steal the starting job very similar to how Halak did in 2010 playoffs. Whether he can perform the same magic is another story….
